Traffic Flow is part of 7th semester courses. It is compulsory for the students at the Transportation Planning and Engineering cycle. The course includes basic definitions of traffic flow, traffic capacity and level of service of a single road as well as statistical analysis distributions and sampling regarding traffic counts. It also includes traffic counts by the students and analysis of saturation effect. The course foresees four hours of theory and exercises every week. During the exercises practical examples of applications are developed and in general the overall understanding of the course is assisted. It should be noted that there is no clear distinction between theory and exercises, since the theory relies on exercises and exercises deal with questions about the theory. Students consist of one class.

Learning Outcomes : Με την επιτυχή ολοκλήρωση του μαθήματος, οι φοιτητές θα είναι σε θέση να:
1) γνωρίζουν τους κύριους τύπους σηματοδότησης, σήμανσης και στάθμευσης,
2) συνειδητοποιούν τη δυνατότητα βελτίωσης της κυκλοφοριακής ροής μέσα από τον έλεγχο της κυκλοφορίας και τη διαχείριση της στάθμευσης,
3) κατανοούν τη σημασία των αναλυτικών προτύπων για τον υπολογισμό των χαρακτηριστικών σηματοδότησης και της ύπαρξης κανονισμών για το σχεδιασμό χώρων και συστημάτων στάθμευσης,
4) αναπτύσσουν βασικά πρότυπα σηματοδότησης και στάθμευσης, και
5) υπολογίζουν με χρήση προτύπων τα βασικά χαρακτηριστικά ελέγχου σηματοδότησης και στάθμευσης.
