Learning Outcomes : Upon successful completion of the course, students will have acquired the following: • proven knowledge and understanding of thematic representations. • be able to understand the needs of the potential reader of every type of cartographic representation. • be able to collect and interpret relevant elements and data for the creation of thematic representations. • be able to design and implement simple and complex thematic cartographic compositions using digital cartographic data and modern cartography and GIS software. • be able to determine the appropriate cartographic symbols for the visualization of qualitative or quantitative data in the creation of communicatively effective thematic maps for both specialized and non-specialized audiences. • know how to effectively use color in analog maps or in maps implemented on a computer screen. • be able to create communicatively effective graphs. • be able to create dynamic maps (animated image technique).
