The course covers basic definitions of structural constructions, such as what a structural element (or member ) is, what types of loads it is subjected to, the possible support conditions for a structural member, and how external loads are transferred through the development of internal force resultants N (axial force), Q (shear force), and M (bending moment). It addresses simple structural members such as rods, beams, and cables, as well as complex ones like (space) trusses.
- Teacher: Βασιλική Βαδαλούκα
ECTS : 5
Language : el, en
Learning Outcomes : The student is introduced to the concept of structural elements-members and their possible loading methods. At the end of the course, they can analytically calculate complex structures in terms of their internal stress magnitudes and how these are distributed under complex external loads.
