Learning Outcomes : Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to: • understand the necessary principles and methods of various beneficiation processes • apply these appropriate methods and techniques for ""liberating"" (separating) useful components from the gangue, with which they coexist in the extracted material • understand the number of necessary comminution – classification stages to achieve liberation, thus limiting the excessive energy consumption of these processes and the loss of useful components in the tailings • identify and select the appropriate machinery that can be used in the various beneficiation processes • understand the basic principles and methods of beneficiation processes and the basic differences in the physical and physicochemical properties of useful component and gangue that must be utilized to produce a concentrate of useful component and minimize the loss of useful component in the tailings • be able to evaluate the success of the application of beneficiation methods by applying the mathematical relationships between feed and products.
