Learning Outcomes : Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to: • know and understand the different methods of casting and metal forming and their characteristics (knowledge). • understand the effect of mechanical stress and thermal history on the evolution of the microstructure of metals and alloys (knowledge/skill). • perform thermomechanical design of alloys under forming with metallurgical methods (knowledge/skill). • conduct quality control on the produced product (knowledge/skill). • distinguish the basic limitations and solidification conditions (knowledge). • select the appropriate casting method and optimize the solidification parameters (skill). • understand the basic principles of non-destructive testing (knowledge/skill). • be able to select the appropriate method aiming for the optimal quality of the workpiece to be formed, considering the respective application (knowledge/skill).
