Learning Outcomes : Upon successful completion of the course, the student should be able to: • Be able to understand the basic stages of hydrometallurgical processing of ores and other raw materials. • Be able to select the appropriate extraction techniques (in reactors under atmospheric conditions or under pressure in autoclaves, in-situ or in tanks or heaps with or without bacteria) applicable to each different case, as well as their implementation parameters. • Be able to analyze and delve into extraction systems, as well as subsequent metal purification and recovery systems, and be able to optimize them and predict their basic sizing elements. • Understand, analyze, and evaluate pregnant solution purification systems using precipitation techniques and/or solvent extraction with organic solvents. • Compare metal separation systems with organic solvents and evaluate their effectiveness. • Understand the operation and evaluate the effectiveness of metal recovery systems using ion exchange and electrolysis methods.
