Learning Outcomes : Mechanical Drawing I is a fundamental course for Mechanical Engineers as it helps them understand the structure of components-parts, their manufacturing method, and their function in an assembled unit. Furthermore, by introducing them to Mechanical Design, it helps them identify and solve manufacturing problems using correct design, while also shaping their technical thinking. The course material aims for students to acquire knowledge and application of the basic regulations of Mechanical Drawing, concerning the design of components – parts. More specifically, it covers: • The regulations governing Mechanical Drawing • The depiction of views and sections • Elements of descriptive geometry • The standardization of threads and the design of screw connections. Consequently, Mechanical Drawing I, after its successful completion, enables students to: • Know the drawing rules of Mechanical Drawing • Understand basic concepts of Mechanical Design • Acquire an understanding of the function of individual components and their configurations • Understand the technical particularities of the design method governing a component • Analyze the technical particularities of a component in a drawing and differentiate it • Design individual components either from physical objects or from already depicted views • Understand basic principles of manufacturing mechanical parts with simple machining processes
