Learning Outcomes : The course Introduction to Mechanical Engineering creates the background at an epistemological and practical level, upon which the knowledge and skills that students will acquire during their attendance of the individual courses of the Mechanical Engineer s study program will be built, so that these can form a coherent whole. Specifically, with the successful completion of the course, first-year students will be able to know: - the scope of action of the Mechanical Engineer (e.g., what they design, what they optimize, what they manage), - the epistemological, scientific, and methodological background of the Mechanical Engineer (e.g., systemic thinking, modeling, design process, basic principles and laws of physical and mathematical sciences), - the skills that a Mechanical Engineer needs to possess, - the social responsibility entailed by the practice of the profession.
Familiarization with Mechanical Engineering. Mechanical Engineer's skills. About modeling. Elements of systems theory. Preliminary Design – Estimation. Basic concepts from the operation of mechanical devices and installations.
