Energy Management: Introduction to energy management; Fundamental principles, involved sectors and the organizational perspective of energy management in a production or service-delivery enterprise; Methodology of energy auditing; Energy balance and Sankey diagram; Economic evaluation of energy investments; Electricity cost analysis; Modern financing mechanisms for energy projects and the role of Energy Service Companies (ESCOs); Building Energy Efficiency Regulation (KENAK); Use of data-logging equipment for energy audits; Case studies of energy audits (university buildings, hospital facility, hotel, etc.); Monitoring & Targeting methodology; Energy Management Systems (EMS); Building energy performance indicators. Environmental Policy: Climate change and greenhouse gas emissions; Environmental and climate policy from the Kyoto Protocol to the Paris Agreement; Decision-support tools for shaping energy and environmental policy; Basic principles of environmental legislation and environmental impact assessment; Models and techniques for evaluating energy and environmental policies. Laboratory Exercises: Laboratory sessions to familiarize students with the use of data-logging equipment for energy audits, as well as the implementation of an energy audit using a web-based tool.

Learning Outcomes : Familiarizing students with issues related to energy management, a concept that is continuously expanding across various sectors of human activity and represents a promising field for professional engagement. In addition, students will be informed about current developments regarding actions at the European and global level to address climate change. A core component of the course is environmental and climate policy, as shaped from the Kyoto Protocol up to the Paris Agreement, along with the associated tools for promoting clean energy.
