Learning Outcomes : Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to: • know how a structural member can be supported, describe its equilibrium equations, determine its internal forces, as well as the stresses and strains developed in it from various loads. • estimate and select the most appropriate method for solving a problem. • be able to use the techniques and methodologies learned to calculate the strength of the member for the various stresses it undergoes. • combine this knowledge to design and dimension a member so that its operation is safe. • be able to understand more complex problems concerning advanced materials with this knowledge.
