The course ""Mechanics of Masonry"" aims at students understanding of the mechanical behavior of masonry. The mechanical behavior of load-bearing masonry structures is influenced by the behavior of the individual composing building materials (stones, bricks, mortars, wood), as well as by the type of load-bearing masonry (unreinforced, reinforced, diazomatic). In addition to modern constructions, load-bearing masonry is the building material of many monuments and listed buildings, which may have special characteristics in their load-bearing system, depending on the area in which they are located, as well as the period of their construction. The course covers both new and existing constructions.
