Course information

This is the basic introductory course to the general operating principles and current configuration of Internal Combustion Engines (Otto and Diesel). At the same time, a brief reference-introduction is made to modern engine control and operating techniques (injection systems, supercharging, anti-pollution, etc.). The course material aims at the first contact and familiarization of students with the general operating principles, particularities, advantages, applications, basic calculation/thermodynamic relationships, and force flow through the kinematic mechanism of reciprocating engines used in transport (passenger vehicles, shipping, etc.) and power generation.
