Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to: recognize and explain phenomena of unstable behavior concerning the horizontal plane motions of ships. propose improvements in maneuverability and course keeping ability through ship design. propose the installation of steering systems for a given hull form. understand and apply the requirements of international maneuverability regulations. qualitatively predict behavioral differentiations during operation in shallow waters, ports, and canals. understand at an initial level the peculiarities of behavior in complex operating environments with the effects of wind, waves, and currents. achieve stable towing for a ship under study. In addition, the student will improve their skills in the following areas: conducting research to broaden and redefine existing knowledge or professional practice. searching, analyzing, and synthesizing data and information, using the necessary technologies. decision-making – autonomous work – promotion of free, creative, and inductive thinking.
