2285 Gas Exchange & Supercharging of Internal Combustion Engines
8th Semester ME
ECTS : 5
Language : el
Learning Outcomes :
The course Gas Exchange and Supercharging of Internal Combustion Engines consists of two units: The first unit deals with the supercharging of reciprocating internal combustion engines, with emphasis on turbocharging (turbo), which is the most successful application of supercharging. In this unit of the course, there is an opportunity to present and analyze all internal combustion engine supercharging systems along with their respective applications in vehicle, aircraft, and marine engines. The focus is on the interaction between the engine and the supercharger, which allows for an in-depth study of internal combustion engine operation/thermodynamics/performance. The second unit deals with the gas exchange and flow of gases through valves (4-stroke engines), ports (2-stroke engines), and throttle bodies (Otto), with emphasis on basic concepts such as volumetric efficiency (filling efficiency), etc.
