The course’s subject is Engineering Ethics. It focuses on the specific standards of behavior, ideals and practices that apply to professional engineers. What does the expression ""thinking like an engineer"" mean, what concepts does it encompass and what degree of professional autonomy does this attribute imply? The main objective of the course is to help engineering students understand existing ethical theories and the problems involved in the application of their science. The objective is achieved through an overview of competing ideas, theories and arguments in the field of moral philosophy and the analysis of case studies, which explore the dynamic relationships between ethical theory and practice within the profession.
